I am Jason the owner of this blog, and I have currently made my blog and website do-follow or DoFollow in my quest to build good photography blog links and backlinks for my Google search engine results or SEO. In the never ending quest to rank higher!

I have been a photographer for a while, but a few weeks ago I started this blog. I had another before "Jason Brown Photography" But I just wanted a place to upload a select few of my pictures as I finished them and say a few comments about them on a website of my own. I wanted traffic too and to get it I realized that I needed to build backlinks to my site. Links are what drives the forces of search engines, when somebody tweets out my website, or shares it on Linkedin or Facebook It shows up as a link from wherever it is. I also have a competitive market as a wedding photographer and need to rank high so as far as backlinks and links go I need to get a lot of them. That is where this article and SEO comes in.

Backlinks DoFollow Photography Blog Google SEO

So, I got all of my SEO done on the pages of my photography blog. Right now my project is to optimize my blog for more back-links.

I quickly found that my challenge is to get quality backlinks from other websites pointing at mine in order to increase my authority with Google.com in the eternal quest to reach page one of the SERP. (Search Engine Results PageGoogle still uses quality backlinks as vote to decide the authority of new websites.

In order to get rank higher by Google, you NEED more backlinks and nobody can argue this point. I learned that a sure fire way to do this is make the comments on my blog (DO FOLLOW)  “dofollow”  What that means, is that when somebody comments on a post they will get a backlink to their blog or website that Google will follow that link, and they get a  little boost in their SERP.  Because I do this online, my blog will be given backlinks by commentors.

That’s just what the blogging community needs to do for each other so use it. By default, WordPress comments are, “Nofollow” then people who comment get no google juice back to their sites. If you change just this one item you can increase your traffic and get more quality backlinks too. Yahoo and Bing most likely work in similar ways. There is another post that goes more in detail about the other methods that help to rank high here in the next three links.

Follow-up

Today this website was indexed by Google It landed in the twentieth spot out of 883,000 pages or on the bottom of page two. I am very satisfied with the keyword selection I chose and will be focusing on page rank now. That is done by building back-links pointing back to San Antonio Wedding Photography from high page rank sites.

Follow-up 2-7-2013

Sometime in the last few days Google gave this post a pagerank of two my other blog Jason Brown Photography now has a page rank of three so feel free to follow the link and make a comment. All of my sites are Do-Follow and will transfer link juice back to your website helping you rank higher in searches. If you search my keywords San Antonio Wedding Photographer I rank on the first page at the bottom, or second page at the top. That is with just 4 months since the site went live.

I am going to have to try this

You should try, it's a good approach, this is what most all web masters do when trying to get page rank and high search position on google.com just after they build a new site. The do-follow thing works both ways too. The place we all want to be is on the top of the first page of google for the keywords we used for our website right. My keywords are, "San Antonio Wedding Photographer". I use it as my name on all the forums and I visit just like you see above on the name-tag. I see you also put in a link into this forum back to your site right. If you add a little thing, @ after your name and then put your keywords, Karate Kids San Antonio. It would look like this in the name field when you visit a forum or post on a blog. (Mr. Guevara @ Karate Kids San Antonio) This way the backlink you get has your keywords in the tag of the link. If I search for your keywords on google you are in position 4 that is good, no question. But, you can get to number one position with a few little tricks just like the one we are discussing. If you go to Karate forums and Blogs and create input there while putting a link back to your site you get what is called link juice. If a page ranks high on google for ,"Karate Blog". Or "Karate Forum" you should be there posting if you are not already and don't forget to put your keywords just after the @ symbol. I hope this helps, if you have more questions keep the conversation going.

I could not get past page rank 2. How in the world did get to 3 in a short amount of time? I have to visit all your site to see what amazing things you did! Thank you.

Jason,

How did you make your blog do follow? And what plug in did you use to filter the spam? Thank you!

Mind blown! I will be putting this to use immediately. Thank you sir!

Well done Jason, not easy getting bona fide do follows.
By the way I do enjoy reading your site.

Thanks Trevor I see your site also has true do follow links. Both no-follow work as far as google is concerned but do-follow pass page rank too. I like a steady stream of both and that Is why I have posted on your blog also, Thanks for stopping by...(READERS) Click on Trevor's name to see his site it is a link!

P.s. Trevor you may not know this but if you add your name in this form.... Trevor @ DSLR Reviews .... the words after the @symbol become the anchor text and will drive more traffic than just your name. Give it a try.

You need to use the Google Toolbar added to your browser then you can click on info to find out if the backlinks are dofollow or not. It is actually easy to find out.

No problem, happy to deliver valuable content. Like your site, I have to say that this post is creating incredible traffic to my blog. It seems that just by using the words do-follow and photography blog I have created a traffic stream of photographers that are looking to link back to their websites and there is nothing that Google likes more than relevant links from similar niche sites. Also if you want more local exposure use links to sites with your cities name. Like for me it would be any link from a site like San Antonio Orchestra or San Antonio Ballet.

Hello Jason,
I was very excited to read this article. One of my question is this technique still relevant with Google panda today? Since (from that I knew),Google considering the exchange backlinks.
In my opinion, the best way to get a high rank position on Googlem keep the unique and good content from our website.

Ricardo de Melo

Have you found that making this blog dofollow you have improved your page rank? Was it worthwhile?

Hi Keith, and thanks for the questions. I have to agree with Trevor to say that is is too soon to tell if it will increase page rank drastically as my blog is still young. I know the best way to increase page rank is to have back-links from relevant sites, I also need traffic and engaged users to higher SERP rank too. I have done both with this post and it is the most commented post on my website so far so I must say that it was worthwhile. Jason

Too early to know based purely on do follows, however, certainly can't hurt Keith.

Thank you Jason for the Do Follow blog. I am just getting to learn a bit more about SEO and back links and all that jazz. Hopefully I did the post right with my key words. Have you had a lot of experience with spam? I will try to make my site a Do Follow blog as well just as soon as I figure it all out!

Your welcome, glad to be of assistance. I don't get too much spam. If you use words like comment luv and use those wordpress plugins you may get more spam but I am pretty spam free as far as it goes. It has paid off to make my site a do follow blog by increasing traffic and page rank. That has landed me on page one of google for my keywords in just three short months.

Jason,

I too am just starting to be aware of Wordpress SEO. What filter do you use to get rid of spam and how did you make your blog do follow? Thank you! Sorry for the double post.

Totally agree Thomas. As long as we keep doing "do follows" at least we have an opportunity with the SEO working for us.
